University of Phoenix offers New Justice and Security degree

Careers opportunities in the criminal justice and security field are increasing for both men and women.

The University of Phoenix, Hawaii Campus is introducing its Master of Science in Admini-stration of Justice and Security (MSAJS) degree program this fall.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of justice and security will continue to expand and evolve faster in the coming years than most other careers.

As public justice and private security organizations evolve to meet the increasing demands of a changing world, the need grows for highly skilled leaders who can administer and manage these organizations.

University of Phoenix developed this innovative program to meet this growing employment demand.

A cooperative, real world approach

The 36-credit MSAJS degree program focuses on developing the expertise and skills necessary to assume professional, leadership, managerial and administrative roles in justice and security organizations.

The program highlights the special characteristics and essentials of each discipline, giving students a strong competitive edge in the field.

The value of cooperative interaction, so relevant in today’s justice and security organizations, is also emphasized in order to give students the skills needed to succeed in these fields.

Similar to other cutting-edge University of Phoenix programs, the MSAJS program adapts to the continually evolving criminal justice field by making contemporary issues and trends, such as technology and homeland security, integral to the curriculum.

Course topics include organizational administration and behavior, criminology theory, cyber crime and information systems security, forensic science and psychological profiling, concepts of physical and personal protection, ethics in justice and security, institutional risk management, public policy issues, and program development and evaluation.

The University of Phoenix – Hawaii curriculum equips graduates to make significant contributions to the safety and well-being of communities and their citizens — locally and internationally.

All of the courses are taught by professionals who work in the fields in which they teach and each holds a minimum of a master’s or doctoral degree.

They do more than just guide students through the curriculum. They also share their current practical experience that provides students a competitive, practitioner edge.

University of Phoenix students learn through an innovative blend of in-class and online instruction model.

They attend class at one of our conveniently located campuses for the first and last class of each course in the evening or on weekends. The remaining four classes are done via the Internet.

Students receive the proven benefits of face-to-face interaction in the classroom, with the added advantage of networking with peers in their learning teams.

At the same time, they enjoy high-tech convenience of "clicking" into class when and where they want. Classes are purposely kept small (class size below 12) to encourage active participation and lively discussion.

Courses are offered one at a time, so students can more fully explore each subject.

In addition to the class-room/online instruction model, University of Phoenix uses cutting edge technology to enhance the students’ learning experience.

The electronic learning resources, named rEsource, consist of digital course materials and "rich media" content.
